Overview
Band Jams is built around bands - your collaborative workspace. Each band has its own recordings, tracks, ideas, and conversations. You can be a member of multiple bands and switch between them.

Creating Bands
Start a new band to begin collaborating.
Band Setup
- Band Name: Choose a name for your band or project
- Web address: Your band's public URL —
bandjams.com/your-band. Only the owner can change it, and only once every 30 days. See Public Page for the full rules. - Settings: Configure band preferences and default permissions
Inviting Members
Bring your bandmates into the workspace.
Email Invites
Enter email addresses to send direct invitations. Recipients click the link to join.
Invite Links
Generate a shareable link. Signing in and opening a valid link joins the band straight away. Once a link has expired or been revoked, visitors can ask to join instead — if the band allows join requests.
Invitation Status
- Pending: Invitation sent, waiting for a response
- Accepted: The invitee has joined the band
- Declined: The invitee turned the invitation down
- Revoked: You cancelled the invitation before it was used
- Expired: The invitation ran out of time and no longer works
Member Roles
Each member has a role that determines their default access level.
Owner
Every permission, plus the three owner-only powers: Export & import, the Danger zone (deleting the band), and changing the band's web address.
Admin
Every permission, and every band-settings section except Export & import and the Danger zone. Admins also cannot change the band's web address.
Member
Can create content and edit or delete their own — recordings, tracks, ideas — plus create and edit setlists and events, chat, and go live. The default role for new members.
Guest
Read-only access. Guests can view content, leave comments, and listen to a live stream — but cannot create or modify items, post in band chat, or go live themselves.
Permissions
A permission is a domain plus an action — "Recordings · Delete all", "Live · Go live". Each role gets a default set; Settings → Roles & permissions shows the full grid of who can do what.

Own vs all: "Edit own" and "Delete own" cover only the items you added. "Edit all" and "Delete all" reach every member's work, so they are reserved for owners and admins.
Band settings aren't a permission
Settings sections are gated by role, not by the table above. Band profile, Branding & links, Preferences, Members & requests, Roles & permissions, Public page and Usage & limits are open to admins and owners. Export & import and the Danger zone are owner-only, as is changing the band's web address.
Let members invite
Settings → Preferences has an Allow Member Invites toggle, on by default. Turn it off and only owners and admins can invite. Guests can never invite, whichever way the toggle is set.

If you're in multiple bands, switch between them.
Band Switcher
The band switcher in the sidebar shows your current band. Click it to see all your bands and switch to a different one. Each band has its own isolated workspace.

- Your selection is remembered for next time

See what each member has contributed to the band.
Activity Stats
See recordings uploaded, comments made, ideas created, and more.
Achievements
Earn badges for milestones like first upload, 100 comments, and more.
Streaks
Track activity streaks. Stay engaged and keep the momentum going.
