Questions

If something isn't covered here, the guide goes into more detail.

What does it cost?

Band Jams is free while it's in beta.

Is my music private?

Yes, by default. Your band's audio is kept in private storage and only members can play it. Nothing is public unless you publish a song or create a share link, and you can undo either. We don't sell or share your music.

Can people outside the band listen?

Yes. Create a share link and send it to anyone. They can listen in the browser without an account. You choose whether they can also download the file, and when the link expires. You can delete a link at any time.

Can we publish songs publicly?

Yes. Publish a song and it appears on your band's public page and on Explore. Only the song you published is public, never the full recording it came from. You can unpublish at any time.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Band Jams runs in any modern browser on a computer, tablet or phone. You can also add it to your home screen to use it like an app.

What audio formats can I upload?

MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A, OGG, Opus, AIFF and WebM, up to 2 GB per file. Files are stored as you uploaded them, without re-encoding.

How do notes on the waveform work?

Click a point on the waveform and type. The note is pinned to that exact second, and anyone in the band can click it to jump there.

Can I get my recordings out again?

Yes. You can download any recording or export a setlist at any time. During the beta you can also export your band's whole library in one go.

Do the tools need an account?

No. The tuner, metronome, key finder, chord composer, theory explorer and improviser are free for anyone at /tools.

Is there a mobile app?

Band Jams runs in your phone's browser. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app.
