August 2026

Release polish: playlists, settings, and landscape mode

Aug 19
Fix

A full-app polish pass ahead of release:

  • Playlists — adding a recording to a playlist now shows up in the playlist (and drag-reorder works on those playlists). Recordings that aren’t part of a track yet get a clear message instead of silently disappearing.
  • Public Page settings — the settings tab no longer errors for bands that have configured their public page.
  • Landscape on phones — the recording player, track player, and live setlist stage mode now use the whole screen in landscape.
  • Truthful numbers — setlist durations count linked recordings, the Shares screen’s active count matches its list, and track lists show a placeholder instead of 0:00 while durations load.
  • Dozens of smaller fixes: dark-mode chips and piano keys, dashboard artwork, clipped values, duplicate labels, friendlier error pages, and more.

A more consistent, more tactile Band Jams

Aug 12
Improved

A full consistency pass across the app — everything should now feel more repeatable and familiar:

  • Pages line up. Every page now uses one of three sanctioned layouts, so siblings no longer sit at different heights or widths. Detail pages (playlists, releases, setlists, member profiles) share the same header system, with blurred cover banners where a cover exists.
  • Tools got the hardware treatment. Tuner, Metronome, Key Finder, Composer and Music Theory share one shell — and the tuner’s note display, the metronome’s BPM and the key finder’s result now read out on phosphor screens with chunky hardware keys, matching the app’s cassette-futurism look.
  • Dialogs behave on phones. All dialogs share named widths and keep their mobile margins; the account-delete flow uses the standard typed-confirmation dialog.
  • Mobile sheets feel native. Every bottom sheet now uses one drawer engine with proper drag-to-dismiss that never fights the browser’s swipe-back gesture.
  • Guide pages match the app. The 18 guide pages’ panels now share the app cards’ exact surface.
  • Saving buttons, spinners, empty states, search boxes and status colors were consolidated onto the shared components, and error toasts no longer overlap the real notification stack.

Safer imports, and nothing gets quietly dropped

Aug 11
Fix
  • Choosing “skip” on an import conflict now really skips — previously it could overwrite the audio on the recording you were trying to protect, leaving the original file stranded. It leaves your recording exactly as it was
  • Ratings and reactions survive a band export — if someone had rated an idea or reacted in chat but was no longer a listed member, that row was quietly dropped on re-import. Those people now come through as entries you can map
  • Replacing a recording’s audio cleans up after itself instead of leaving the old file behind
  • Uploaded archives get a real integrity checksum — imports previously stored an empty one, so an archive could never be verified or de-duplicated afterwards
  • Deleted-file cleanup no longer gives up — if the nightly trash purge fails repeatedly, the files it still needs to remove are recorded and retried on the next run rather than being forgotten

The landing page catches up with the product

Aug 10
Improved
  • The landing page now shows what Band Jams actually does — carving sessions into published songs, synced live setlists, and no-account guest review links each get a proper section instead of a one-liner
  • Hear something real — a public track from a real band plays right on the landing page
  • Honest copy — removed claims about a not-yet-enabled feature and clarified how privacy, publishing, and share links interact in the FAQ
  • Cleaner SEO — one canonical host and title everywhere, and the sitemap now covers Explore and this changelog

Loop regions everywhere, and a round of fixes

Aug 5
Improved
  • Saved loop regions now play on the tracks list and inline players — not just the recording page — and they land in the right spot on cropped or cut tracks
  • Event attendees can be given a role — the role you type is finally saved and shown in the attendee list
  • Share analytics shows recent activity, so you can see when a shared link was opened
  • “Hide my name on this invite” now actually works instead of being quietly ignored
  • The activity feed no longer dead-links to recordings that have been deleted
  • Chart tooltips read the right day on wide screens
  • Comment marker icons now match everywhere comments appear

Steadier mobile player

Aug 4
Improved
  • The EQ bars now glow behind the title on the mobile now-playing screens — recordings and jams alike — instead of squeezing in below the waveform (jams gain the bars for the first time)
  • Nothing jumps anymore when you press play or pause — the waveform, transport, and tabs all stay exactly where they were
  • Landscape keeps its bar strip, now with reserved space so it’s just as steady

July 2026

Psychedelic mode controls

Jul 23
Improved
  • Psychedelic mode is now in your user menu — toggle it next to Light/Dark mode from the desktop avatar menu or the mobile sidebar
  • Logo long-press fixed on phones — holding the Band Jams wordmark now charges up with a golden glow and toggles reliably, without the browser’s link menu getting in the way

Psychedelic mode

Jul 22
New
  • Live artwork is now opt-in — the animated backdrop is off by default, so the app opens on a calmer, standardized background
  • Long-press the Band Jams logo to toggle psychedelic mode from anywhere — the wordmark lights up in a rasta gradient while it’s on
  • Pick your look under Settings → Appearance: choose a preset and fine-tune motion and colours
  • Your choice is saved to your account and syncs across devices

Reliability and accessibility across the app

Jul 21
Improved
  • Thread replies keep their attachments — a file added to a reply no longer vanishes when you post it
  • The @mention picker in chat works from the keyboard, so you can pick a bandmate without reaching for the mouse
  • Editing an event’s date now behaves correctly instead of erroring or quietly creating a multi-day event
  • Deleting a track confirms success or tells you when something went wrong, rather than failing silently
  • Row menus only show Delete when you can actually delete — no more dead menu items
  • Dark-mode chat text is legible again over the ambient background

Sharper search and an up-to-date guide

Jul 21
Improved
  • The Ctrl+K search palette now surfaces matching quick actions when a search comes up empty — and you can arrow through and run them entirely from the keyboard
  • The guide now covers Playlists and Achievements, lists the correct keyboard shortcuts, and shows every supported upload format
  • Signed-in members no longer see a flash of the logged-out header when opening the guide, changelog, or other public pages

A smoother audio player

Jul 20
Improved
  • Volume is now adjustable by keyboard and touch, not just a hover-only slider
  • The hover timestamp on the waveform is no longer clipped, so you can see exactly where you’re pointing
  • Swipe-to-skip on touch now matches the amount it shows, and the speed and mute controls have larger tap targets
  • Playlists keep a failed track’s “couldn’t load audio” notice visible instead of silently skipping past it

Settings, redesigned

Jul 17
Improved
  • New settings layout — band settings moved from a cramped tab strip that overflowed on every screen to a clean sub-route layout: a sidebar on desktop, a drill-in list on mobile. Every section has its own URL, and older links still land in the right place.
  • Admins can manage the band — band settings are no longer creator-only. Owners and admins can edit the profile, branding, preferences, public page, and members. Exporting band data and deleting the band stay owner-only.
  • One home for invites & requests — the members section now focuses on invitations and join requests; full roster management lives on the Members page, with quick links between the two.
  • Members can invite — when a band turns on member invites, members can now actually create invite links (previously the button showed but always failed).
  • Tidier forms — every settings form validates inline, saves without a full reload, and warns you if someone else changed the settings while you were editing.
  • Your account settings, too — personal settings got the same sub-route layout: Profile, Appearance, Security, and About each have their own page, with an accessible theme switcher and per-account Live Artwork controls.
  • One save for your profile — editing your name, display name, bio, influences, website, and photo now persists in a single step (band-specific overrides still save on their own).

More reliable account emails

Jul 16
Fix
  • Confirmation emails now send more reliably when you sign up
  • You can resend the verification link right from the “check your email” screen if it never arrives
  • Sign-up and sign-in errors now read in plain language instead of technical jargon — and if your email isn’t verified yet, the sign-in page points you straight to resending the link

Shuffle, repeat, and pick up where you left off

Jul 14
New
  • Shuffle and repeat are now independent toggles in the playlist and queue player — shuffle the order, repeat the whole list or a single track, or combine the two
  • The player remembers your volume and resumes a track where you left off, so you don’t lose your place between sessions

June 2026
